Broccoli and Mushroom Gratin

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Blanch the broccoli florets in boiling water for 2 minutes, then drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add mushrooms and cook until softened, then sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and stir to combine.
  5. Slowly pour in milk while stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  6. Stir in half of the Parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Arrange the blanched broccoli in the prepared baking dish and pour the mushroom sauce over the top.
  8. In a small bowl, combine the remaining Parmesan cheese with panko breadcrumbs and sprinkle over the casserole.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
