Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/4 cup milk

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a 9-inch round cake pan, spread the melted butter and sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the bottom.
  3. Arrange the apple slices over the brown sugar layer.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  5. In another bowl, beat the eggs and add vanilla extract.
  6. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, adding milk gradually until well mixed.
  7. Pour the batter over the apple slices in the cake pan, spreading evenly.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
