Classic Reuben Sandwich

Ingredients:

  • 8 slices rye bread
  • 1 pound corned beef, sliced
  • 1 cup sauerkraut, drained
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup Russian or Thousand Island dressing
  • 4 tablespoons butter

Directions:

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter on one side of each slice of rye bread.
  3. On the unbuttered side of 4 slices, layer corned beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and dressing.
  4. Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up.
  5. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes.
  6. Flip the sandwiches carefully and cook the other side until golden and the cheese is melted, about another 4-5 minutes.
  7. Remove from skillet, slice in half, and serve immediately.
