Ingredients:
- 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and quartered
- 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup sour cream
Directions:
- Place the quartered potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add 1 teaspoon of salt.
- Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer. Cook for 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Let them sit for 2-3 minutes to allow excess moisture to evaporate.
- Add the softened butter, warmed milk, and sour cream to the potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
