Ingredients:

  • 1 lb black beans, soaked overnight
  • 1 lb pork shoulder, cut into chunks
  • 1 lb beef brisket, cut into chunks
  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1/2 lb bacon, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 2 bay leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. In a large pot, combine the soaked black beans with enough water to cover them and bring to a boil. Simmer for 1 hour or until beans are tender.
  2. In a separate pan, brown the pork shoulder, beef brisket, smoked sausage, and bacon until golden.
  3. Add the browned meats to the pot with the beans. Stir in garlic, onions, bay leaves, salt, and pepper.
  4. Simmer the feijoada on low heat for 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally, until the meat is tender and the flavors are well combined.
  5. Serve hot with white rice, collard greens, and orange slices on the side.
