Ingredients:
- 2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Directions:
- Place the peeled and cut potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook for 15-20 minutes until tender.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Allow them to sit for a minute to steam off excess moisture.
- Add the butter, milk, sour cream, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the potatoes.
- Mash the potatoes with a potato masher or a ricer until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Serve warm, garnished with additional butter or chives if desired.
