Ingredients:
- 3 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Directions:
- In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, and salt.
- Add the honey and olive oil to the yeast mixture, then pour it into the flour mixture.
- Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let it rise again for 30 minutes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped.
- Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
