Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fruit jam (your choice)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the softened butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  4. Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  5. Spoon the fruit jam evenly over the batter, then top with the remaining batter.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
