A classic Southern dish, the Kentucky Hot Brown is a delicious open-faced sandwich featuring turkey and bacon, smothered in a creamy cheese sauce and topped with fresh tomatoes.

Kentucky Hot Brown

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of Texas toast
  • 4 ounces turkey breast, sliced
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 1 cup Mornay sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. In the same skillet, toast the Texas toast slices until golden brown on both sides.
  4. Place the toasted Texas toast on a baking sheet.
  5. Layer the turkey breast slices evenly over the toast.
  6. Pour Mornay sauce over the turkey.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and Parmesan cheese on top.
  8. Add slices of tomato on top of the cheese, and season with salt and pepper.
  9. Crumble the cooked bacon over the tomatoes.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  11. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
