Ingredients:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 4 pita bread rounds
  • 1 cup sliced cucumber
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sliced red onion
  • Tahini sauce for serving

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, combine olive oil, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Add chicken slices and toss to coat. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, mix Greek yogurt, garlic, and lemon juice to make a sauce.
  3. Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the marinated chicken for 3-4 minutes per side until cooked through.
  4. Warm the pita bread rounds on the grill pan.
  5. To assemble the shawarma, spread some yogurt sauce on each pita bread. Top with grilled chicken, cucumber, tomatoes, and red onion. Drizzle with tahini sauce.
