New Haven-Style White Clam Pizza

Ingredients:

  • 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup chopped fresh clams (shucked)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Pecorino Romano cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 500°F (260°C).
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  3. Transfer the rolled dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet.
  4. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat and add the minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  5. Add the chopped clams to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, then season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  6. Spread the clam mixture evenly over the pizza dough.
  7. Top the pizza with shredded mozzarella and grated Pecorino Romano cheese.
  8. Drizzle lemon juice over the top and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, slice, and serve hot.
