Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- Oil for frying
Directions:
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt, and nutmeg.
- Add the yeast mixture to the flour and mix until a smooth batter forms.
- Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Heat oil in a deep pot over medium heat.
- Using your hands or a spoon, drop small balls of the batter into the hot oil.
- Fry until golden brown, turning occasionally, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
