Nigerian Puff Puff is a delightful, fluffy, and slightly sweet fried dough ball, perfect as a snack or appetizer.

Serving Size: Serves 6

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Oil for frying

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt, and nutmeg.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the flour and mix until a smooth batter forms.
  4. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pot over medium heat.
  6. Using your hands or a spoon, drop small balls of the batter into the hot oil.
  7. Fry until golden brown, turning occasionally, about 5-7 minutes.
  8. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
