Parisian Croissant Delight

Difficulty: MEDIUM

Prep Time: 2 hours

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 2 hours 20 minutes

Serving Size: Serves 8

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup cold unsalted butter, for laminating
  • 1 egg yolk, for egg wash

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. Add warm milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, then shape it into a ball. Let it rest for 1 hour.
  4. After the dough has rested, roll it out into a rectangle. Place the cold butter in the center and fold the dough over it. Roll the dough again, then fold into thirds. Repeat this process 3 more times.
  5. Chill the dough for 30 minutes, then roll out and cut into triangles. Roll each triangle starting from the wide end to form croissants.
  6. Place the croissants on a baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and let them rise for 1 hour.
  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the croissants with more egg wash and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Enjoy these delicious Parisian croissants warm or at room temperature.
