Serving Size: Serves 8
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup cold unsalted butter, for laminating
- 1 egg yolk, for egg wash
Directions:
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
- Add warm milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, then shape it into a ball. Let it rest for 1 hour.
- After the dough has rested, roll it out into a rectangle. Place the cold butter in the center and fold the dough over it. Roll the dough again, then fold into thirds. Repeat this process 3 more times.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes, then roll out and cut into triangles. Roll each triangle starting from the wide end to form croissants.
- Place the croissants on a baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and let them rise for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the croissants with more egg wash and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Enjoy these delicious Parisian croissants warm or at room temperature.
