A delicious, savory pepperoni roll filled with gooey mozzarella, perfect for snacking or as a party appetizer.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 egg (beaten, for wash)

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, and yeast.
  2. Add warm water and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Layer the pepperoni and mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough.
  8. Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other, pinching the seams to seal.
  9. Place the roll seam-side down on a greased baking sheet.
  10. Brush the top with beaten egg and make a few slits on top for steam to escape.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  12. Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
