Total Time: 35 minutes

Serving Size: Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Directions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, season with salt and pepper, and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and form into patties.
  4. Season the patties with salt and pepper, then smash them onto the hot skillet to create a crispy crust, cooking for about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. While the patties are cooking, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl to create the sauce.
  6. When the patties are almost done, place a slice of provolone cheese on each patty and cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
  7. Toast the hamburger buns in the skillet or on a separate pan until lightly browned.
  8. Assemble the burgers by spreading the sauce on the bottom bun, placing a cheesy patty on top, and topping with the caramelized onions and peppers.
  9. Serve the Philly Cheesesteak Style Smash Burgers hot and enjoy!
