These Spiced Chicken Shawarma Wraps are a delightful blend of Middle Eastern flavors in a convenient handheld form. Tender marinated chicken grilled to perfection and paired with creamy tahini sauce, tangy pickled vegetables, and fresh herbs, all wrapped in warm pita bread.

Spiced Chicken Shawarma Wraps

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pita bread rounds
  • Tahini sauce, for drizzling
  • Pickled cucumbers and tomatoes, for serving
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, combine yogurt, olive oil, garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add the sliced chicken thighs to the marinade, making sure they are well coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat a grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated chicken for about 4-5 minutes per side or until cooked through.
  4. Warm the pita bread rounds in the pan for about 1 minute on each side.
  5. To assemble the wraps, place the grilled chicken on each pita bread round. Drizzle with tahini sauce, add pickled cucumbers and tomatoes, and garnish with fresh parsley.
  6. Fold the sides of the pita over the filling and secure with toothpicks. Serve warm and enjoy!
