Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- Black food coloring
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat 3/4 cup butter and granulated sugar until creamy.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the creamed mixture and beat until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use a bat-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool on a wire rack.
- For the frosting, beat 1/4 cup butter until smooth, then slowly add powdered sugar and milk.
- Add black food coloring to the frosting and mix until desired color is achieved.
- Spread or pipe the black frosting onto cooled cookies.
