Ingredients:

  • 1 cup uncooked rice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

  1. Rinse the uncooked rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Drain the soaked rice and spread it out on a clean kitchen towel to dry for about 10-15 minutes.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the dried rice to the skillet, ensuring it's spread evenly.
  4. Cover the skillet with a lid and let the rice toast for about 5-7 minutes, shaking occasionally until the rice begins to puff up.
  5. Remove the lid and continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes until the rice is golden brown and crispy.
  6. Sprinkle the salt, garlic powder, smoked paprika, cumin, and black pepper over the puffed rice, tossing to coat evenly.
  7. Transfer the puffed rice to a bowl and let it cool before serving.
