Ingredients:

  • 2 large onions, cut into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Dip onion rings into the flour mixture, then into the buttermilk, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Fry the coated onion rings in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
  5. Remove the onion rings with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
