Loaded Mac n Cheese with Bacon

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces cavatappi pasta
  • 4 strips bacon, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded gouda cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the cavatappi pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the diced bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and drain on paper towels, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet.
  4. Add butter to the skillet with bacon fat and melt over medium heat.
  5. Stir in the milk, heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Add the cheddar and gouda cheese to the skillet, stirring until melted and smooth.
  7. Combine the cooked pasta and crispy bacon with the cheese sauce, mixing well.
  8. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with breadcrumbs.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
