Almond Marzipan Kringle

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almond paste
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together almond paste, sugar, and butter until well combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in almond extract.
  4. Gradually mix in flour and salt to form a dough.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  6. Spread the almond filling over the dough and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
  7. Roll up the dough lengthwise to form a log, then twist into a ring shape on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly.
  9. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and milk to make a glaze. Drizzle over the kringle.
